La Habra Heights is a General Law city located in Los Angeles County, California. The community is characterized by a combination of residential, agricultural, and open space areas. The agricultural uses and animal keeping are commonly accessory to residential usage of land in the City.


La Habra Heights is located at 33°57'50" North, 117°57'10" West (33.964012, -117.952837). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 16.1 km˛ (6.2 mi˛).


The City of La Habra Heights is a small, unique community located approximately 25 miles east of Los Angeles on the border of Orange and Los Angeles counties. It is surrounded by Hacienda Heights and Rowland Heights to the north, canyons to the east, La Habra to the south and Whittier to the south and west.

As of the 2010 census, the total population of the city was 5,325. The median age was 47.6. The city is made up of primarily White (72.4%) and Asian (15.8%) residents. 6.3 percent of the city population identified themselves as some other race and 23.5 percent identify themselves as Hispanic or Latino.*

There were 1,880 housing units in the city; 96 percent are occupied and only 4 percent are vacant. The vast majority of the occupied units are owner occupied (93.2%) with a small percentage being occupied by renters (6.8%) The city has an average housing density of 303.2/mile (116.7/km).

There were 1,085 households in the city. Approximately 30% of all households in the city have individuals under the age of 18. Almost 39% have individuals 65 years and over in their households. The majority of these households are family households (82.6%). Of the family households, 26.9% of them had their own children under the age of 18 living with them, 71.4 percent were a husband and wife family, 6.8 percent were female householders with no husband present, and 4.4 were male householders with no wife present. The average household size is 2.94 and the average family size is 3.21.
