La Habra Heights Residents Urged to Avoid Mosquito Bites, West Nile Virus

Recently, the Greater Los Angeles Vector Control District began confirming West Nile virus activity in multiple communities in L.A. County. As the season continues to progress, vector control expects West Nile Virus to be pervasive throughout the county, including La Habra Heights. Vector control urges everyone to take preventative measures now against mosquitoes.

Residents should use insect repellent when they are outdoors where mosquitoes are present. If possible, long sleeves and pants should be worn to cover exposed skin. In addition, dumping all standing water around the home once a week will prevent a mosquito infestation. It only takes a week for mosquitoes to complete their life cycles from egg to flying adults.

If La Habra Heights residents are experiencing mosquito problems or notice breeding sources, such as green pools in their neighborhood, they can contact their vector control district at www.ReportMosquitoes.org or call 562-944-9656.
