Stan Carroll, Council Member Term Expires: March 2013
Background: Age 64. Ardis and I moved to the Heights in 1987 when our son, Thomas, was a baby. He is now a senior at Occidental College. We chose the Heights because we love the rural, open space. Over the years we have formed a close bond with our neighbors and the community. It is a wonderful place to live. It has been an honor serving as your representative on the city council the past six years. I am proud of the progress we have made together. I taught Politics and Law at Rio Hondo College for many years. I also served as a county prosecutor for San Bernardino and have been in private practice. I received my BA from Pepperdine University, MA from U.S.C. and JD from Western State University School of Law. Through sound fiscal management, without raising taxes, we increased city reserves to over three million dollars for future city needs. Utilizing widespread citizen input, we updated and adopted a General Plan. When the cost of contracting paramedic service from La Habra rose over 1,000%, we created our own paramedic service for the Heights. We purchased 3 acres of land from the county at a very reasonable price. But, challenges lie ahead: We must decide where to build a new fire station and city offices. We must continue to guard our financial resources. Contact Information I look forward to your comments. You can always reach me at (562) 690-4645 or by calling City Hall at (562) 694-6302 Email:
