On March 13, 2014 the City Council awarded a contract for solid waste disposal services to Republic Waste Services of Southern California. The new service commenced on June 1, 2014.
As of June 1, 2014 all City residents will be required to pay for collection services. This is to discourage the accumulation of trash and animal waste in the City. The State of California has mandated all cities to test for the presence of trash, metals, nitrates and bacteria to prove that roads, streams and aquifers are not carrying pollutants downstream. Non-Price Components of Agreement
June 1, 2014 – May 31, 2022 (8 years) plus the option of two 1-year renewals (10 years total)
City can terminate in 30 days if for cause or default
7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
City facilities and events, Christmas tree recycle, Quarterly cleanups, annual compost give-away, automatic billing and payment, temporary service stop, multi-lingual service desk reception, public outreach, annual newsletter, cart replacement
On call bulky item/E-waste pick up
Two free pickups per year. Additional pickups available for a fee.

Collection Day Schedule
Please set out all trash and recycling carts by 6:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection day.
*If a collection day falls on a holiday, collection service will be provided on the next work day. The following holidays are observed:
- New Years Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
Republic Services, together with the City of La Habra Heights, hosts quarterly clean ups each year. Bulky items, green wastes, documents for shredding, and electronics are collected. For more information, please see schedule below:
